Islamic History Month in October is a federally designated celebration of Islam’s rich history not only in Canada but around the world. At the IIT, we define a theme for the month and host a variety of programs that you can attend with your families.

  • A strong but often forgotten heritage

    Muslims have contributed to the world throughout history in the sciences, maths, arts, literature, and more. Come and explore these rich contributions at the IIT with your loved ones and the broader community.

  • Saturday Talks and Exhibitions

    Every Saturday starting at 6pm we open doors for the community to visit our exhibition hosted in our gymnasium. In the past we have explored themes from different countries from different continents including Canada, Asia, Africa, and more.

  • Connecting the past with the present and future

    Learning about Islamic history has no age limit and its lessons are boundless and especially timeless. Understanding our history will help Muslims work towards reviving the Prophetic way so that it might benefit us, our families, and society.

  • What is Islamic History Month in Canada?

    Islamic History Month in Canada is an annual observance and federally designated celebration held every October to celebrate the rich history, diverse culture, and profound contributions of Muslims throughout the world today and in the past.

  • Do I need to register to attend the programs at the IIT during IHM?

    Depending on the program we might require registration and sometimes a fee might apply. Our Saturday programs and exhibitions are completely free and do not require registration. Keep an eye out on our website for details on each specific event.

  • Are there any volunteer opportunities during IHM at the IIT?

    Yes! The IIT was built on the commitment and decades of dedication by volunteers and is always in need of volunteer support. Feel free to come early to our IHM programs and help with setup and clean up as well after. If you would like to register as a volunteer, feel free to fill out our volunteer form.

  • I am unable to attend any of the events during the month. Are they recorded?

    Yes! All of our Saturday programs are livestreamed on YouTube and on our social media platforms. You can search our YouTube Channel for past IHM livestreams. Simply search “Islamic History Month” in the channel search area or manually look for them under the “Live” tab.
