  • Who can attend the Iftar programs on Saturdays?

The flagship lecture and iftar program is open to everyone so tell your friends and family and come together with them!

  • Do I need to register for the programs during Ramadan at the IIT?

We do not require registration for most events and activities at the IIT during the month of Ramadan. Just drop in and bring those you know and love!

  • Are there facilities for sisters and children during Taraweeh and other prayers?

At the IIT, we provide childcare services for your children during Taraweeh. Brothers and sisters pray in the same space so sisters are welcome to come and attend even if they cannot pray.

  • When and where is the Eid prayer held, and are there multiple sessions?

When Eid was during the summer, we would have one prayer outside on our lawn. As Eid now moves into the colder seasons, we facilitate multiple Eid prayers during the morning hours. Historically, we have held prayers at the IIT and the Scarborough Convention Centre right next door to the IIT. For the exact timing and locations, please keep an eye out on our website home page for announcements and news.

  • How much is Zakat al-Fitr and how can I make the donation?

Zakat al-Fitr is mandatory charity upon every believer and must be paid before the Eid prayer. However, it makes most sense to pay it early so that our volunteers can ensure the money is delivered to the appropriate recipients in time for Eid. It is valued at $15 CAD.

  • Can I volunteer during the month of Ramadan?

Absolutely! The IIT depends heavily on the work and commitment if volunteers and we can always use the extra hands for help. If you would like to volunteer, please use our volunteer form to sign up. Otherwise, feel free to just go to a station and offer your support.
