The New Muslim Corner program is designed to bridge a gap between Islamic Institutions and new and returning Muslims or people interested in Islam by giving them a safe space to learn Islam, build meaningful relationships, and to be more engaged in the community.

    Participate in weekly classes that cover a variety of topics on Islam, taught in a friendly and welcoming way, where your questions can be answered without any fear of judgement.

    • Do I need to be a Muslim already to attend this program?

      The New Muslim Corner program is open to anyone who is interested in learning Islam, reverting to Islam, has recently taken shahada, or wants to come back to the fold of Islam. We don’t place any restrictions so feel free to attend!

    • How do I take the Shahada at the IIT?

      The Shahada is a public proclamation of belief in Allah and that Muhammad (Peace Be Upon Him) is the final messenger of Allah. If you wish to take your Shahada at the IIT, you can write an email to iit@islam.ca or just walk in and speak to someone in the office.

    • I want to be Muslim but I don't want anyone to know yet. Is the class private?

      The New Muslim Corner is a judgement free and safe space for anyone attending whose privacy is thoroughly respected. We understand that some individuals cannot have their

       

      Although the program is recorded and livestreamed, only the speaker’s face is shown the entire time. We do not show any of the students nor the environment.

    • What if I feel nervous or out of place?

      Many people do at first. The class is judgment-free, and everyone is at a similar stage. You can ask anything, and sisters are welcome to ask freely too.

    • Is the class free, and where does it take place?

      The class is free, is led by Shaikh Abdullah Hakim Quick, and takes place at the Islamic Institute of Toronto every Friday night at 7pm.
